Vol. 4, Issue 22, Agent Snapshot: Tracy Anderson

Tracy Anderson, Prudential Preferred Properties, CRE, Hinsdale

What was your first job in the realty industry?
My first job in the realty industry was as a Cook County Assistant States Attorney in the Real Estate Tax Division.

Who inspires you?
My mother inspires me. When I was young she told me there would be things she would do that I wouldn’t agree with, it was my responsibility to change those things in myself. I have admired many things she did when she was raising my sister and me. I realize now there aren’t too many things I would do differently. She has always been my biggest cheerleader and a huge help to me with my own children.

What is your favorite free-time activity?
I started playing tennis about five years ago. I love it, I only wish I had more time to devote to it and had a better serve!

How did you learn the business?
In addition to the formal training I received at Prudential Preferred Properties, CRE, I always enjoy learning new things through continuing education classes. My own experiences in selling and buying my own homes have helped me to put myself in my clients’ shoes. I always treat my clients how I would like to be treated.

What was your most difficult sale, and how did you succeed?
Same as most agents, I am sure, an inspection issue nearly killed a deal. I think having patience with your clients is important. You need to provide them with information to help them weigh their options.

What is the most difficult aspect of your job?
The most difficult aspect of my job is juggling all my other commitments.

What has been your greatest accomplishment?
In addition, to raising three great kids (along with my husband) my greatest accomplishment was the year I served as the Hinsdale Junior Woman’s Club president. In addition to 25-plus service projects, we raised over $300,000 (over 2 years) for the Wellness House, which allowed them to use that money for their Family Matters Program. This program helps children who have family members who are dealing with cancer or are in bereavement. I can’t say enough about the good work they do for these families and that we as a club had such an enormous impact makes me so very proud.

What is your favorite restaurant?
The restaurant that I have fond memories of is the Ovengrinder. My girlfriends and I would meet there every couple of weeks when I was in law school. We always had a great meal and a good time catching up while waited for a table.

Architecturally speaking, what is your favorite building in Chicago?
The Fourth Presbyterian Church is my favorite building. Not only is it beautiful, but my husband and I were married there, so it holds a special place in my heart.

BlackBerry, Palm or paper?
Motorola Q, I love it!

What is your favorite city after Chicago?
Hands down, Charleston, South Carolina

What is your personal motto?
I let my integrity guide my actions.

In 10 words or less, what is your advice for someone new to the industry?
Ask questions, take classes and treat everyone with respect.
