What was your most interesting job before going into real estate?

Lab technician.

Where did you grow up?

South Side Chicago, Englewood neighborhood.

Growing up, what did you want to be?

Airline steward.

What do you do to relax when you’re stressed?

I meditate.

If you could meet any well-known figure (living or not), who would it be and why?

Langston Hughes. He is a relative. Just to listen to his experiences living in his era and travels.

What is Chicago’s best-kept secret?

We have 77 neighborhoods.

What do you love most about the industry?

Assisting clients with homeownership.

How do you distinguish yourself from the crowd of agents?

I lived in apartments. Becoming a homeowner became reality; I can relate to the dream. So, that being said, I have integrity, compassion and it’s heartfelt.

What is the most difficult aspect of your job?

Speaking with clients who are not educated about credit.

What’s your best advice for generating new leads?

Be genuine. Communicate with your clients. They will refer their family and friends to you.

What has been your greatest accomplishment?

Giving my clients the keys to their home and saying, “Well done. Your hard work paid off.”

What are you binge-watching/reading/listening to lately?

“Paradise.”

What’s your favorite meal in Chicago?

Spinach deep-dish pizza.

Architecturally speaking, what is your favorite building in Chicago?

Willis Tower.

What’s the weirdest thing that’s ever happened to you on the job?

Walking into a home that should have been empty.

What’s one thing people are surprised to learn about you?

I’m funny — or least I think I am.

What is your favorite vacation spot and why?

New Orleans. I love the buildings, people and, of course, the food.

In 10 words or less, what is your advice for someone new to the industry?

Study your craft. Pick an area and study it — parks, schools, restaurants, etc.

Android, although I own both.
