Kevin Blair is a broker and team member with the Vogel Group at Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Chicago’s Evanston office.

Where did you grow up?

Nasau, Bahamas, and went to school in Canada.

Growing up, what did you want to be?

Backup dancer for any major performance artist, tour or show.

What do you do to relax when you’re stressed?

I find watching nature shows to be very relaxing. I especially enjoy anything that David Attenborough narrates.

If you could meet any well-known figure (living or not), who would it be and why?

Janet Jackson. She just has the “IT” factor.

What is Chicago’s best kept secret?

My neighborhood, Rogers Park. It’s diverse, has great walkability, is close to the lake and transportation, and nearby Andersonville has great restaurants and shopping.

What do you love most about the industry?

I love never knowing who I’m going to meet.

How do you distinguish yourself from the crowd of agents?

I’m a people person and very social. Going beyond small talk and getting to the “real stuff” allows me to get to know people and form a deeper connection with them. That process is very enjoyable to me, and I think that openness and vulnerability resonates with people.

What is the most difficult aspect of your job?

I struggle sometimes with finding daily structure.

What’s your best advice for generating new leads?

I think maintaining connections and keeping up with the nature flow of people is so important. I practice the lost art of a notecard writing, and that generates good will and helps keep me connected. People respond so positively to that simple act.

What has been your greatest accomplishment?

I had my first million-dollar deal last year, then it snowballed and two more followed!

What are you binge watching/reading/listening to lately?

I want to dive into and learn all the BHHS Chicago platforms.

What’s your favorite meal in Chicago?

Hands down, deep dish pizza from JB Albertos in Rogers Park. It’s damn good pizza.

Architecturally speaking, what is your favorite building in Chicago?

I have a favorite house in my neighborhood. It’s an English Tudor with a great mix of old and new and brightly painted stairs.
