For the past 19 years, Justin Greenberg has been navigating the Chicago real estate market, a career path that actually took root during his college days. At the time, he was a marketing major caddying on the side when a regular client suggested he get licensed. He studied over his senior winter break, passed, and jumped straight into the industry right after final exams. Today, he leads a six-agent team at Jameson Sotheby’s International Realty called The JG Group, managing everything from luxury sales to rentals across Northbrook and the North Shore communities.
A Northbrook native, Greenberg has spent his entire career in the market where he grew up and where he is now raising his own family. Four years as a managing broker from 2012 to 2016 deepened his understanding of how deals get done on both sides, and the relationships he built with agents across the brokerage community remain among his most valuable assets when competing in a tight market.
While his team handles all price points and residential sales, Greenberg carries a heavy focus on the luxury market. His business runs almost entirely on word-of-mouth and past client referrals. Reviewers bring up words like genuine, strategic, and trustworthy, usually pointing out that he shows up to that very first consultation with a clear plan already in hand. It is an approach that gets results. Just last year, the team wrapped up over 100 transactions totaling nearly $35 million in volume, securing them a Platinum production award at Sotheby’s for two years running.
Greenberg has also built a media presence that reaches well beyond traditional marketing. His TV show, Windy City Unlocked, and companion podcast, Unlocking the Windy City, have nearly doubled his social media following. He is also a nine-year board member of Hunger Resource Network.
Greenberg squeezes in golf when he can, though most of his off-hours are spent at dance class, soccer games, hockey practices and baseball games with his 6-year-old son and 3-year-old daughter — a balance he counts among his proudest accomplishments.
