Bill Taliya, Real Estate Consultant, Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage, Lakeview

Bill TaliyaWhat was your first job in the realty industry? I worked as a law firm real estate closing coordinator. That is where I caught the real estate bug.

Where did you grow up? I grew up in Andersonville.

What is your favorite free-time activity? Spending it with my twins. They are so much fun!

What do you do to relax when you’re stressed? Walk by the lake. It gives me calmness and clarity.

Growing up, what did you want to be? An actor.

If you could have lunch with a well-known figure (living or not), who would it be and why? The first president, George Washington. After informing him of where we are today as a country, I would really like to know what his thoughts were as to what he saw this country becoming.

Where is your favorite place to hang out? Julius Meinl on Addison. They have great coffee.

What do you love most about the industry? You meet new people every day, whether they are purchasing their first home or wanting a larger home because their family is growing. Real estate always seems to offer an exciting time, even if you are a seasoned purchaser or seller.

What is the most difficult aspect of your job? Making time for myself. Our industry is demanding, and many times I find that making time for myself can
be trying.

Where do you go to network and meet new clients? Church, CAR functions, weddings, gatherings … I’m always on!

What has been your greatest accomplishment? I would say being a good father. I don’t know if anyone is really ready to be a parent, so being a good dad to my children surpasses all my other accomplishments.

What was the last good movie you saw or book you read? I just recently caught a re-run of Analyze This with Robert De Niro. I love that movie.

What kind of car do you drive? The one and only Jeep Wrangler.

What is your favorite restaurant? Filippo’s Ristorante and Buen Apetito.

Architecturally speaking, what is your favorite building in Chicago? 311 S. Wacker.

Smartphone or paper? Smartphone.

What is your favorite city after Chicago? Montreal, Canada.

What is your advice for someone new to the industry? Focus on your clients and be organized.
