Although she’s a broker associate with Luxury Living, Kate Samuelson is primarily an exclusive leasing agent, renting luxury apartments in the agency’s managed buildings. During the prime season, she stays extremely busy leasing between three buildings in River North and Streeterville.
“Since conducting tours for potential applicants is a huge part of my job, I make it my business to be an expert in every detail of every building,” Samuelson explains. “Most potential applicants are looking at several other properties, which is my impetus to give a fun and memorable tour.”
After a successful career in catering and events at Navy Pier, Samuelson made a seamless transition to real estate. “My job in catering and hospitality was actually very similar to being a Realtor,” she shares. “Communication is the biggest component, with experience and reaction times playing close seconds.”
A Chicago native, Samuelson raised her two sons in the Wrigleyville area and currently lives in Lincoln Square. “What I love most about Chicago is that a car is not a must; in fact, it can be a needless expense,” she says. “Walking is great exercise and is often quicker than driving.”
Samuelson is regularly a monthly top producer of exclusives. In 2025, she received recognition for over 100 applications. Her clients and customers appreciate her no-nonsense approach and trust her recommendations on everything from the best pizza places, restaurants and food stands to the top pools and beaches in the city. “I even know where to buy the best Diet Coke in any given neighborhood!” she adds.
Recently, Samuelson has enjoyed transforming her backyard area into a lush sanctuary in the summer and a dazzling display of lights and decor in the winter.
