Agent-Snapshot-Dina-Silver

Dina Silver is a broker with @properties in Glenview

What was your first job in the realty industry? Assisting my husband, who is also an @properties broker!

Where did you grow up? Glencoe

Growing up, what did you want to be? I wanted to co-anchor the “Today Show” with Matt Lauer.

What do you do to relax when you’re stressed? I watch a massive amount of series television – enough to keep HBO and Showtime in business for many years.

If you could have lunch with a well-known figure (living or not), who would it be and why? I’ve had the same answer to this question for many, many years, and now it seems a little dated…but my choice is David Letterman. I have a huge appreciation for comedy and pioneers in that field, and he is by far one of my favorites.

Where is your favorite place to hang out? Either on my couch at home or anywhere on earth with my closest girlfriends and a bottle of wine.

What do you love most about the industry? So many things. Mostly the opportunity to help people with such a significant event. Whether buying or selling, I have a great appreciation for how important this step is for people. Also, I truly enjoy showing homes. What’s more fun than touring houses every day?

How do you distinguish yourself from the crowd of agents? I’m tenacious, honest, motivated, occasionally funny, and always real. Those are the qualities I bring to every facet of my life, both personally and professionally. I’m invested in my clients, and they all understand and appreciate how much I care about them.

What is the most difficult aspect of your job? Dealing with people who are not as invested in their own clients as I am in mine.

Where do you go to network and meet new clients? Everywhere I go is a new opportunity to meet clients. The grocery store, Target, soccer games, you name it. The more people who know what I do, the better.

What has been your greatest accomplishment? Well, aside from real estate, I’m also a published author. My greatest accomplishment would be writing five novels in six years in addition to selling houses!

What was the last good movie you saw or book you read? The last good movie was “The Martian,” and the last good book was “All The Light We Cannot See” by Anthony Doerr

What is your favorite restaurant? Big & Little’s on Orleans

Architecturally speaking, what is your favorite building in Chicago? The Merchandise Mart

What kind of car do you drive? A Toyota Highlander. Boring.

Smartphone or paper? Smartphone. It functions as a battery pack for my brain.

What is your favorite city after Chicago? Santa Barbara, CA

In 10 words or less, what is your advice for someone new to the industry? Look out for Dina Silver 😉

What’s your favorite real estate iPhone/Android app? Open Home

Who are your favorite people to follow on Twitter? Ricky Gervais and Jon Stewart
