Helen Sobel left her job as a litigation paralegal in 1993 to join her family’s new construction business in the suburbs, performing customer service and sales duties. Four years later, she pivoted to the resale residential market and launched a career that spans more than three decades.
“I have lived in several of the areas I serve,” says Sobel, a Realtor with Baird & Warner. “But mostly, I’ve learned the areas by working in the industry for so many years and having a father who loved the city and was a wealth of knowledge.”
A CAR Top Producer from 2022 to 2024, Sobel assists buyers and sellers, from first-time to experienced, in the city and suburbs. Clients appreciate her professionalism, availability, insights into property values and neighborhoods, and ability to quickly resolve any issues that come up.
Easygoing but firm when she needs to be, she always gives people the benefit of the doubt and does what she says she’s going to do. She also feels strongly about working well with other agents to help her clients get what they want and need. “Even though we may be on ‘different sides’, it’s important to be civil and courteous, because the goal is to help the buyer and seller come to terms,” she says. “It’s not about us and our egos.”
Most of all, Sobel is there for clients when they need her, a work ethic that has earned her clients for life.
“When working with buyers, I work at their pace. I’m not the agent who will hound them,” she says. “With sellers, I am more process-driven but patient, as well, especially if it’s a tough move for them.”
A career in real estate has allowed Sobel to balance family and work, an achievement all its own.
