Agent X: Don’t fall into new construction

Just like every year, summer zoomed by in a blur of cocktails, sunshine, rooftops and beer gardens. It’s no mistake that half of my summer descriptions revolve around adult beverages. But alas, those magical three short months of blissful weather in Chicago are coming to an end. Before we pumpkin-spice our way through fall and hibernate for the winter, let’s take a look at all the new construction popping up around the city. Regardless of what season is your favorite, rest assured that rain, shine, snow or polar vortex, I’ll be here with the gossip that can warm your heart.

Adam McLain and Mary Glavin have joined Compass Mortgage, and will no longer have any trouble figuring out which way is north. Meanwhile, Mike Black has joined Peoples Home Equity, and try as I might I can’t find a pun that fits into this announcement.

Special shout-out to Dan Kieres for celebrating the anniversary of adopting his dog Ozzie in 2014! I love hearing about dogs finding a forever home and then getting to celebrate that special dog-iversary every year.

Not quite as exciting, but still newsworthy, Danny Pogofsky got married. It’s a big deal, but I think I’ve made it clear that I’m a crazy dog person, so I get a little more jazzed about people finding a canine companion than a human one. It doesn’t seem like married life has changed him much, and I’m jealous of all the food they appear to be eating post-wedding.

Lots of agents are fans of Chris Martin and Coldplay, and I wonder if anyone else had a hard time choosing sides when he split with Gwynny. As long as Apple and Moses are healthy and happy I suppose it doesn’t matter which side you’re on (#teamchris). Catherine Holbrook and Grace Goro were among the agents seen crooning along with the hits at the band’s Chicago concert.

There’s only one event worth mentioning in the last couple of weeks, and that’s the Chicago Agent magazine golf outing. After a little rain, the clouds broke and the sun smiled down upon the participants who were there to shoot some holes (Is that appropriate golfer speak? I just golf for the funny outfits and drinks). Rumor has it that afterwards, participants went to the Abbey and jammed to a hair band. A little birdie also told me that one of the attendants is an Uber driver? A car was spotted in the mix sporting an Uber sticker. Get that hustle on! Why not spend your free time driving folks around for money? Most agents already spend a ton of time driving potential clients around for free. Maybe there’s even a way to combine the two activities?

Birthdays! Karyn Johnson Bonder enjoys a birthday on Aug. 25, as does Honore Frumentino the next day on Aug. 26. Amy Howell and Lynn Weekley are b-day twins on Aug. 30, and Ivona Kutermankiewicz celebrates on Sept. 6. I’m happy to wish Tariq “TK” Khwaja a happy birthday on Sept. 8. Larry Steinway should tickle the ivories to celebrate his birthday on Sept. 9, which he shares with Dustin Schaaf.
