New @properties storefront coming; BHHS brings industry vet back into the fold

New @properties office coming to North Center

Chicago-based real estate firm @properties announced this week that it would be opening a new location on Lincoln Avenue, just north of Irving Park Road. The new spot, referred to by the company as the Lakeview/North Center office, will be managed by designated managing broker Amy Harris, who most recently worked out of the firm’s Lakeview office on Greenview and Lincoln avenues.

Thad Wong, co-founder of @properties, noted that the most recent expansion is in line with what the company learned from its posture during the last recession. “While almost every brokerage firm was downsizing during the last downturn, we made a commitment to grow. It was a complete game changer for @properties because it attracted more agents and clients and ultimately put us in the best position once the market rebounded. Our strategy is similar today,” said Wong in a press release.

The 4,000-square-foot office will need some work to accommodate the 45 desks and conference and lounge areas, which is expected to be complete this fall. The release also hinted that there would be “technology rollouts, key personnel moves, and additional office openings” from the company in the near future.

“When COVID-19 hit, we made the commitment to stay the course with our expansion, technology, marketing, and training and coaching initiatives,” said co-founder Mike Golden. “Additional storefront presence in one of Chicago’s most active submarkets will benefit our agents and clients as the market recovers and moves beyond this current challenge.”

BHHS brings back John Diederich

Late last month, Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Chicago announced John Diederich had left Coldwell Banker to join the firm’s Michigan Avenue office.

“With significant brokerage experience, a passion for architecture and a background in interior design, John brings knowledge of many facets of the industry together for the benefit of his clients,” Alan Zuber, co-managing broker of the downtown office, said in a press release.

Diederich, who closed more than $4.5 million in sales volume last year, specializes in lakefront properties, particularly in his home neighborhood of Edgewater.
