As broker outreach manager with Midwest Real Estate Data (MRED), Margaret Hicks focuses on agent outreach, assisting agents in much of Illinois.
In a “previous life” she owned a tour business, hosting walking tours of the city for tourists excited to take it all in. “These tours focused on architecture, and I loved the art of it,” she says. “I often say it’s the only art form I’ve ever understood.”
But COVID changed the course of her business, and that’s when she began applying her years of entertaining and educating tourists to another platform: MRED. “I still use those same skills today,” she says. “But now it’s to share the beauty of the MLS, instead of the beauty of one building.”
Her experience working in the legal department for a real estate developer in 2008 gave her insight into the inner workings of deals and agents passion for what they were doing. She learned a lot about the business side of real estate. At MRED, she delved deep into the people side.
Staying curious about MRED agents, how they do what they do and how they use MRED to do it has led to a successful and satisfying career. “I truly enjoy hearing about how our agents got into their business, how they’re growing it and how MRED can help,” she says. “It keeps me learning more about my business and theirs.”
Hicks is known for bringing an element of joy to the MLS, even when receiving feedback on something MRED needs to work on. “It just means I can do my job and help MRED and the agent connect on a deeper level and be a good advocate for them.”
Recently she accomplished a personal goal when she moved steps away from the beach in Rogers Park.
