Brian Dombrowski entered the professional world with a finance degree in 2003. As dropping interest rates sparked a surge in mortgage volumes, what began as a temporary assignment at Wells Fargo rapidly evolved into a junior loan officer position within just three months. Twenty-three years later, he serves as senior vice president of mortgage lending at Rate, working across Chicagoland and licensed in Michigan, Indiana, Wisconsin, Florida, Colorado and Arizona.
His loan book runs wide: jumbo financing, first-time and move-up buyers, DSCR, non-QM and grant-funded down payment assistance. He’s built a niche guiding divorcing couples through buying out a shared home. Patience, empathy and trust matter as much as paperwork there. Dombrowski describes his style as upbeat and easygoing, with the loan process kept smooth with his hands-on approach from the first call to closing. Clients mention how often he is available at odd hours, and he considers that responsiveness the real reason they keep coming back.
Dombrowski leads a small team built around one goal: to educate all clients to make their own fully informed decisions. Real estate agents supply most of his business, along with developers, financial planners and divorce attorneys. He has worked hard, and for years, to make and establish these strong relationships. He has earned the Rate President’s Club every year since joining in 2018, and Scotsman Guide has ranked him among its top 1% of originators that whole stretch.
Dombrowski measures his life by what he calls his F’s: finance, family, food, fitness, fun, faith and friends, with fermentation folded in as a hobby that keeps growing. Some seasons one bucket runs fuller than the others, he admits, and he’s made peace with that. He coaches his kids’ soccer teams, stays active and is rarely far from a project in the kitchen.
