Larry Libman, vice president of residential lending with New American Funding, has always enjoyed working with numbers, solving equations and troubleshooting problems to find the best solutions. In every deal, his goal is to provide the best customer service possible, as well as knowledgeable, unbiased advice for clients purchasing or refinancing a residential property.
An 11-time recipient of the Five Star Mortgage Professional award, Libman became fascinated by the lending process while purchasing his first home. Two of his college roommates served as loan officers on the deal and helped him get started in the business. More than two decades later, he’s as excited to assist clients with their loans as he was on his first day in the industry.
After majoring in broadcast journalism at the University of Kansas and working in sports radio and television in Chicago, Libman gained confidence and comfort as a public speaker, which has had an indelible mark on his career in lending. “When you can speak easily about the process, about the products and about the expectations, it creates an ease and comfort with clients,” he shares.
Clients always compliment Libman on the clear and concise way he explains the process and manages expectations from the start. “Mortgage lending is a serious business,” he explains. “It is a stressful time for our clients. But it is not brain surgery. It is not life or death. I like to use my sense of humor and communication skills to help put folks at ease.”
For 23 years, Libman has built a business based 100% on referrals and proven results. Every day, he and his team stress collaboration and sharing. “If you are not learning from others every single day, then you are missing out on something useful,” he says.
