Mortgage lending provided the flexibility Jennifer Sobocienski needed to balance raising a family with a career that drew upon her business and people skills to help clients achieve their real estate goals.
Twenty years later, Sobocienski, a senior mortgage consultant with Wintrust Mortgage, is still thrilled to offer buyers a vast array of mortgage products and solutions for an individual’s “outside-the-box” needs.
“I don’t look at my clients as just another loan,” Sobocienski insists. “I truly want to do what is best for them and make sure they understand everything about their loan. I want to be their mortgage girl not just for this loan, but for their loans in the future, and their families’ and friends’ loans too.”
Sobocienski genuinely enjoys guiding clients through the complexities of buying their first home, making strategic moving decisions or saving money through refinancing. “I love working the numbers for a client and being creative with solutions for their mortgage needs,” she explains. “I have a wealth of experience and can find solutions for people who are unsure if they can even get a loan.”
After entering lending in 2005 as a loan officer assistant, Sobocienski moved up to loan officer within a year after much hard work. Her background in accounting helped. After graduating from college, she worked as a CPA for Ernst & Young. In time, she shifted to recruiting roles for Arthur Andersen and Citadel before deciding to become a loan officer.
Sobocienski’s dedication to helping people goes beyond lending. She is a chairperson for Barrington Giving Day, a nonprofit that hosts events to distribute clothes, school supplies and personal care items to underserved families in the Barrington School District.
When she isn’t busy securing mortgages for homebuyers, Sobocienski enjoys watching her children play sports.
