For Karth Barr, a journey into mortgage banking wasn’t initially on the radar. However, an unexpected offer during his senior year in college led him to a career in the mortgage industry. He started his career as a loan officer, and although he had planned to enter the investment realm of finance after college, he found himself drawn to the mortgage industry to empower clients with financial literacy during the loan process.
“As I embarked on my career, my commitment was to become a true master of my craft,” shares Barr, now a producing branch manager and market leader for Union Home Mortgage in Chicagoland. “Throughout my 30-year journey, I have developed a deep understanding of mortgage products and a true financial approach, equipping me to better serve my clients.”
Working alongside his operations manager and production partner, Megan Gober, since 2006, Barr is passionate about helping clients navigate home financing scenarios while fostering financial empowerment through education. His meticulous attention to detail and relentless pursuit of exceeding client expectations have earned him trust, admiration and industry recognition both locally and nationally.
With nearly $961 million in residential mortgages originated to date, Barr is on pace to exceed $1 billion in mortgages funded this year. Despite his success, his commitment to clients remains unwavering, driving consistent year-over-year growth regardless of market dynamics.
“While my focus has always been on education and mentorship, my team plays the most important role in realizing our collective success,” Barr explains. “Without my team’s contribution, none of our achievements within this market would have been [possible].”
Barr’s enthusiasm for mortgage banking has remained undiminished throughout a career spanning over three decades. “I am truly passionate about what I do,” he reports.
