Sometimes, a person’s life experiences work together to set the stage for the perfect career. Such was the case for Sarah Martinath, whose experiences working in the mortgage industry, buying and selling homes during multiple relocations and eventually parenting in Chicago’s western suburbs all combined to create the foundation for a rewarding and successful career as a real estate broker.
“I love real estate, and my experience within the lending component gave me a solid understanding of the processes required to buy and sell properties,” says Martinath, who worked not only as a loan officer but also as a processor and account manager. Similarly, as a seasoned homebuyer and seller who always had her children in tow while navigating relocations for her husband’s work, she is sensitive to the stresses that accompany preparing a family for moves both big and small.
Now firmly entrenched in the area, Martinath knows the market in the way only a longtime resident can. “Living here and having three active kids over the last 17 years ensured I was all over the western suburbs between carpools, tournaments and supporting my kids’ extracurriculars,” she shares, adding that the more she worked in the area, the more she learned. “There is no better way to understand a market than to be in the market,” she confirms.
Known among clients and colleagues for her authenticity and responsiveness, Martinath describes herself as professional, approachable and accessible, always choosing to lead with respect over ego. “I don’t try to be anyone else,” she explains. “I pitch myself, how I work and how I accomplish getting my clients to the closing table.”
After 15 years in the business, Martinath is grateful for her clients — especially those who rehire her again and again. Many even refer to her as “the family Realtor,” which is a designation she cherishes.
