Armed with a keen desire to explore career options and discover his passion, Realtor Mark Buckner now has 12 years of experience in the industry and is team leader of the Mark Buckner Group at COMPASS. Combining his background in construction and an interest in fashion and interior design, Buckner says he was drawn into the world of real estate and started exploring property rehabilitation projects. “Growing up in Chicago provided me with intimate familiarity with the city and its neighborhoods,” Buckner explains. “I’ve gained comprehensive knowledge of its unique characteristics and nuances. My personal investments in rehabbing properties and acquiring investment properties have also deepened my insights into the local real estate landscape.”
Buckner focuses on Chicago neighborhoods along the Blue Line and serves the near western suburbs, as well. “My passion lies in helping first-time buyers navigate the real estate industry, ensuring inclusivity and providing comprehensive support throughout the entire process,” he points out.
Throughout his path, Buckner had the privilege of being mentored by influential figures. “My father installed in me my work ethic and the importance of superior service.” “My father-in-law played a significant role in inspiring me to think bigger and optimize my efforts for maximum returns,” he shares. “My wife’s uncle provided the guidance and confidence I needed to embark on this career path.”

Buckner and his wife achieved a significant milestone recently by acquiring a third multi-unit investment property. “We also purchased a secondary home with the purpose of turning it into an Airbnb rental,” he adds. He is actively involved in philanthropy and volunteer work, collaborating with Kids Above All to optimize the proceeds from real estate assets for greater impact. In his free time, Buckner enjoys exercising, snowboarding, cooking and property management.
