Amy Duong Kim, Founding Agent, Senior Broker, International Advisor

Compass Real Estate

Compass Real Estate

Realizing a glass ceiling in her previous career as an actuarial analyst, Amy Duong Kim decided to make a complete career change, leaving the corporate world to obtain her real estate license. Now having been in real estate for 13 years, Kim is a founding agent, senior broker and international advisor of Compass Real Estate.

Serving clients in Chicago and its western suburbs, Kim and her team are well equipped to handle a mixed bag of clients — 30 percent of whom are international. Among the group, six different languages are spoken: Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Tagalog, Vietnamese and English. No matter the client, the team takes pride in always being able to present the right fit for each unique person. Kim finds pleasure in the challenge of serving such a variety of clients, remarking, “I love that we have a huge array of clients — keeps us on our toes.”

Always one to think outside the box, Kim is known to clients for her great instinct, hustler attitude and resourceful nature. Every year, Kim and her team strive to grow their business and have proven successful time and again. Last year marked an especially exciting year for her team, as it was named a Silver Level Top 1% Producer by the Chicago Association of Realtors. “We never do work for awards, but it was absolutely amazing to be recognized with all these professionals I look up to,” Kim says. “We are very blessed that we are able to grow every year and help our clients as much as we do.”

Besides the MLS, Kim relies on the wealth of tools Compass offers when it comes to marketing a property. She especially favors the Instagram and Facebook templates and finds that the use of geotagging and hashtags has helped boost listings.

In addition to being a board member of the Asian Real Estate Association of America and a committee member of the Hinsdale Junior Women’s Club, Kim is currently pursuing a CIPS Certification. Yet Kim never allows work to get in the way of time with her children and family. “Anyone can tell you that I put my family and my clients first. I think that has always been my key to success. I don’t let busy work get in the way of what’s important. I’m proud that both my husband and I are very involved with our children.”
