Even growing up, Cindy Wilson thought she’d be a real estate agent someday. But it wasn’t until she endured her fourth corporate layoff that it became a reality. She found herself in yet another meeting with an outplacement counselor, planning her next move. “He asked me if there was anything I wanted to do ‘someday,’” she remembers. She told him about real estate. “He said that it was ‘someday,’ and I got my real estate license a few months later.”
That was 19 years ago, and since then, the longtime Lincoln Park resident has earned a reputation for being a knowledgeable, trusted advisor who takes clients’ stress away by facilitating seamless sales and closings. Together with her partner at the C+S Group, Stephanie Biederman, Wilson strategizes on listings and problem-solving to best meet clients’ needs. “We’ve known each other since we went through training together our rookie year, and we’ve always assisted and supported each other,” Wilson says of Biederman. “I wouldn’t have made it through these busy years without her.”
Her corporate background has been helpful, making Wilson empathetic to her clients’ neighborhood requirements, and her knowledge of the city helps her find them just the right area. “I am sensitive to my clients’ needs to get to workplaces or other locations on a daily basis, because I did those difficult commutes myself,” she explains. Last year, she was able to do the seemingly impossible, helping a relocation client find the right luxury home, get their mortgage approved and get the purchase closed in just two weeks, just in time for the birth of the client’s second child.
Wilson was named to both Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices’ and Chicago magazine’s “Best of the Best” lists in 2022. Also in 2022, she earned the BHHS President’s Circle award.
Alongside her colleagues at Berkshire Hathaway, Wilson is an active volunteer who helps build homes for Habitat for Humanity. She’s also an avid reader, tennis player and skier.
