K. Hovnanian Homes
Jon Isherwood’s passion for building started at a young age and manifested in a real estate degree from the University of Wisconsin. In his 13 years in the industry, Isherwood has worked in real estate lending, served as an acquisition associate and project manager, targeting and identifying markets for 27 census office locations across the Midwest. For the past eight years he has worked in acquisitions for K. Hovnanian Homes, and currently leads a team of land professionals as the vice president of acquisitions in the Chicagoland market.
Isherwood tracks market data and trends to develop acquisition strategies for Chicago. His day-to-day responsibilities include identifying opportunities via a network of brokers, property owners, investors and community leaders. When he’s not working on new opportunities, Isherwood manages a team of consultants to plan and zone residential communities.
To achieve optimal outcomes for all stakeholders, Isherwood focuses on data, listening and compromise. He believes it is crucial to gather facts and listen to input from all parties. “Every development requires new and different solutions. By listening and being willing to find common ground, I find win-win solutions that deliver lasting value to the community, while ensuring attractive investment opportunities.”
A member of the Home Builders Association of Greater Chicago and the Urban Land Institute, Isherwood has acquired 17 residential communities over the past five years, totaling over $250 million in development activity. What drives Isherwood to succeed, he says, is “the satisfaction realized from transforming a property and creating something completely new is unmatched.”
