What was your first job in the industry?
I have my degree in architecture and my first internship was with an architectural firm. We designed houses for a developer.

Who inspires you?
My mother, a single mother of three; she worked a full-time job but still gave me a great life with many opportunities.

What is your favorite free-time activity?
I love to be with family and friends and participate in outdoor sports. Also, volunteering gives me a sense of accomplishment and makes me realize how to make a difference in others’ lives.

How did you learn the business?
When I started, I was the first one in the office and the last one to leave (I still am)! I observed how other agents conducted business and my manager, Pat Mazzone, was always available to coach me.

What was the last good movie you saw or book you read?
The last movie was Crash; I cried my eyes out. The most recent book was Truth and Beauty by Ann Patchett. I cried my eyes out on this one too!

What is your favorite restaurant?
Anything that is served to me I’ll eat, but I love brunch at Nomi. It’s all-you-can-eat, and the view from the window is spectacular.

Architecturally speaking, what is your favorite building in Chicago?
The original Water Tower: It’s elegant, petite, detailed and one of the few buildings that survived the fire.

What kind of car do you drive?
When I started, I took taxis and buses, as I couldn’t afford a car. Now, I drive a Land Rover LR3.

Blackberry, Palm or Paper?
I use all of them. My notebook is filled with previous conversations, negotiations, messages and doodles. My Palm is used for scheduling appointments, and the Blackberry is used for immediate emailing and text messages.

What was your favorite city after Chicago?
Siena, Italy; I lived there for a year. The food, architecture, pasta, wine, espresso and horse racing are all amazing.

What is your personal motto?
Just do it

In 10 words or less, what is your advice for someone new to the industry?
Dedicate your time to your career, persevere and learn to rise when you fall down.
