So much for all that “Second City” stuff – Chicago’s Old Town was the nation’s hottest neighborhood in 2012, according to Realtor.com.

Move over New York City! According to a new study by the folks at Realtor.com, Chicago’s Old Town neighborhood was the hottest neighborhood in America in 2012, with more users of the site searching for Old Town than any other neighborhood in the nation.

In fact, not one of New York’s many neighborhoods appears in the top five, with Willow Bend Country in Plano, TX; Keller in Fort Worth, TX;  Spring Valley in Las Vegas, NV; and Stoneybrook, Orlando, FL rounding out the rest of Realtor.com’s findings.

Old Town the Nation’s Hottest Neighborhood

Not that we needed any convincing of Old Town’s metropolitan splendor, but Realtor.com did do an ample job of summing up the area’s strengths:

“With roots dating back to the 1870’s, Old Town Chicago’s well-preserved Victorian-style buildings, fashionable dining scene and its urban, pedestrian-friendly Near North Side location explain just why it’s the most searched neighborhood on Realtor.com,” the site proclaimed.

And that’s not even counting the area’s excellent access to the CTA, the Chicago History Museum and its proximity to the fabulous North Avenue Beach (and, every year, the Air & Water Show), the Lincoln Park Conservatory and the Park itself – heck, Old Town has everything! Who needs New York, anyway?
