As senior vice president of mortgage lending at OriginPoint, A Rate Company, Gillespie leads a high-performing team focused on flawless execution, fast turnaround and clear communication. “In this line of work, we have to care deeply about our clients’ well-being while being extremely competent in providing the best advice and loan options,” he says. “We also need to be responsive to answering calls at all hours.”

Gillespie is a multiyear recipient of OriginPoint’s Chairman’s Circle award and a longstanding member of the company’s President’s Club. In 2024, one of the industry’s most challenging years, he was the only loan officer in his division to close over $100 million in production. “I could not have accomplished it without the contributions of everyone on my team,” he says. “We’ve built something strong and keep adjusting as the market changes.”

His approach is grounded in transparency, education and long-term relationships. “Nobody wants to be sold by an aggressive salesperson,” Gillespie explains. “We’re looking out for our clients’ best interests while educating them on the process.”

Gillespie lives in Chicago’s Lakeview neighborhood with his wife and two daughters. When he’s not working, he’s often coaching softball, entertaining at home or fitting in a round of golf. “Since I don’t treat my career as a nine-to-five job, it can be hard to balance it all,” he says, “but I’m proud to be present for both my clients and my family.”
