On Ohio Street, in Ukrainian Village, one geometric home sticks out among the block with its cubist shape and shining metal finish. It’s also hitting the market.
Designed by Linda Searl and Joe Valerio, married architects with separate careers, the house marks a rare collaboration and has stood as neighborhood landmark since the 1980s.
Searl is a principal of Searl Lamaster Howe Architects and specializes in luxury residential designs. Valerio is a principal of Valerio Dewalt Train Associates with past designs including the Godfrey Hotel in River North.
Together, as newlyweds in the late ’80s, they envisioned the design of 2301 W. Ohio St., which would become their shared home for decades. Now, the home is for sale for the first time.
Priced just below $1.5 million, Joanne Nemerovski of COMPASS is overseeing the sale.
“From the minute you walk inside, you can tell this fantastic home was a labor of love,” Nemerovski told Chicago Agent. “[Searl and Valerio’s] goal was to make every room special … and they did. Built on a corner, double lot, the attention to light, interior detail and the spectacular private yard is like no other.”
In addition to the unique exterior, 2301 W. Ohio St. includes four bedrooms, three bathrooms and an open floor plan.
