AT A GLANCE
Until the mid-1800s Lookout Mountain was called “Chatanuga” by the Native American inhabitants, a Cherokee word meaning “mountains looking at each other.” Today, the city of Chattanooga offers a variety of outdoor recreational activities, while downtown offers attractions like the Tennessee Aquarium and Hunter Museum of American Art. Visitors can go to the Chattanooga Choo-Choo to learn about the historic train route that was once a major rail link between the North and the South.
Canyon Ridge Club is a 420-acre private gated golf community that sits on top of Lookout Mountain in Rising Fawn. Although remote, the mountain top location is just under two hours from Atlanta and Birmingham, Ala., and only minutes from Chattanooga, Tenn.
Canyon Ridge offers a number of design options for the homes, with attention to the way each home compliments the natural surroundings. Choices range from a luxury cottage, a golf bungalow near a fairway, a maintenance-free townhome or a custom-built home, all of which can be tailored to fit each second-home owner’s individual style. Homesites start in the low $200,000s and have either private wooded views, golf views or long-range mountain views. Fairway golf bungalow packages start in the low $500,000s.
The Canyon Ridge 18-hole champion golf course intertwines its way through dense hardwoods, scattered with homes and homesites. Canyon Ridge offers the passionate golfer, as well as the leisure golfer, the opportunity to play on a mountaintop course with many holes offering scenic views. The golf course has a practice and teaching facility, with private lessons available.
An amenities package, designed by land development and environmental experts, includes US Open regulation DecoTurf tennis courts and a zero-entry heated swimming pool. There is a 2,800-square-foot pointe pavilion, stocked ponds for fishing and a managed trail system for hiking with overlooks and picnic areas. On-site services include concierge, landscaping, maintenance, interior design and cleaning.
