A career in real estate wasn’t always on Louise O’Connor’s radar. She worked for a law firm in downtown Chicago during college, and after graduation, she took a job as a medical technologist before becoming a stay-at-home mom.
It was her involvement in building a home for her own family, while her husband traveled frequently for work, that piqued her interest in real estate — an interest that became obvious to her builder, who suggested she sell homes for a living.
“He saw the interest I had in the process and my interactions with subcontractors,” recalls O’Connor, a broker and Realtor with Baird & Warner. Once she earned her real estate license, she began working for a local broker, and he continued to encourage her.
Thirty-five years later, she still loves what she does and considers real estate a great career.
“I do my best to put my clients at ease and explain to them that they will be kept informed during every step of their transaction,” she says. “No two transactions are alike. Each has its unique intricacies and challenges, but all can, and do, get worked out during the process.”
Courteous, accessible and focused on each client’s objectives, O’Connor is known for telling it like it is, a quality clients seek in a Realtor.
She’s sold vacant land, farms, churches, two-to-eight-flats and investment properties. Still, most of her sales are homes in Will, Cook and DuPage counties. She’s a member of Mainstreet REALTORS®, Illinois REALTORS® and the National Association of REALTORS®.
“I constantly upgrade my formal training, negotiating skills, strategy and marketing,” O’Connor says. “My clients also know that I am available to them when they have questions.” Last year, thanks to a patient teacher, she finally learned how to swim.
