Janet Jasmer’s love of homes and the people behind them, as well as her firm belief that she can make the buying or selling process enjoyable, drew her to real estate 28 years ago. She grew up in the Chicago area and has built her business one referral at a time since then. She specializes in condominiums, single-family homes and the occasional co-op or multiunit property — guided by clients who always arrive through referrals.
Jasmer is known for her high standards and exceptional customer service. Her business runs entirely on word of mouth, expanding wherever her clients need her. Recent transactions took her from the far northern suburbs of Barrington to the South Loop. Having raised her children through Chicago’s public and private school systems, she provides clients with firsthand insights on balancing school districts with property features. She educates her clients on all aspects of a transaction so they feel confident in their decisions.
A member of the Chicago Association of REALTORS®, Jasmer watched her rental business take off this past year, drawing in younger clients who have already returned as buyers. Despite having a corporate relocation package with preassigned neighborhood agents, one of her former suburban clients chose to work with her again; the client knew that her care, strong opinions, deep research skills and local market instincts would protect their financial interests.
Jasmer’s proudest moment this year was helping her oldest son, who is beginning a doctoral program at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, buy a home in the area rather than renting. A firm believer in homeownership, she wanted to set him up for his six years in school. She gives back closer to home, too, donating to food banks and immigrant support groups, and she always passes along what furniture sellers leave behind.
