Before entering real estate, Jaime Coates built an award-winning career in film and television production across Los Angeles and Chicago — work that demanded precision and the ability to drive complex projects forward. Today, she brings both skills to her work in real estate.
Coates was drawn to the industry due to her love of contracts and strategy. “It can be a smooth and extremely empowering process if we pay attention to the right details,” she explains. “I wanted to help people understand the big picture and show them that buying a home doesn’t have to be painful.”
Coates walks buyers through underwriting early so they can compete with and beat the strongest players at the table. Her sellers receive market snapshots several times a week while a listing is live, allowing them to track the metrics driving sales versus those signaling a correction. “Let’s go through underwriting before we even make an offer so we can compete with the big players and win,” she says. In multiple-offer situations, precise engineering defines her approach, leading to repeat referrals.
A Chicagoland native who grew up in Arlington Heights, Coates serves buyers, sellers, downsizers and investors across the Chicago metro area and the northwestern suburbs. She is a member of the National Association of REALTORS®, participates in Baird & Warner’s Military on the Move and First Responders programs.
Away from work, Coates has run two Chicago Marathons for Oasis for Orphans and completed an ultramarathon for Ol Pejeta Conservancy in Kenya. In addition, she advocates for Mission Blue, Dr. Sylvia Earle’s ocean conservation nonprofit. Her family includes a half-blind rescue dog known for chasing lights and eating portions of her husband’s car. “He’s a mess,” she adds, “but he’s ours.”
