Crediting his success to his adaptability, Scott Gold observes that being able to navigate in any market has been key to surviving in the industry for over 21 years. A senior home lending advisor with JPMorgan Chase, Gold successfully expanded his business last year. “A wise man once said expansion, expansion, expansion,” he quips. “I am proud that we were able to expand last year while the mortgage and real estate industry were in one of their worst years ever.”
Prior to his lending career, Gold worked at S-G Imported Car Parts, where he met people from all walks of life. “Seeing how individuals operate, talk and handle everyday scenarios taught me how to work with and listen to people,” he remembers. “Then one of my best friends who worked at Chase Manhattan Mortgage Corporation introduced me to that business and I never looked back.”
Gold and his team of professionals receive referrals from branch partners and bankers as well as through networking with past clients. Specializing in agency and nonagency loans, he listens to new clients thoroughly before discussing expectations for their specific scenarios. “Working on the nonagency side allows me to get the high-net-worth clients approved and closed without needing a traditional income documentation,” he explains. “I have learned that as long as I continue to demonstrate loyalty, professional courtesy and honesty, everything else will take care of itself.”
Gold, who has received a number of awards, defines his success by the trust his co-workers and business associates place in him. A supporter of the Children’s Cranial Association, he coaches his child in multiple sports and enjoys golfing and traveling. “I work to have fun,” he shares. “If I am not able to laugh and enjoy my day at work, then I am in the wrong line of business.”
