James & Katie Garrison, Part Owners/Captains, New Buffalo, St. Joseph

Keller Williams

With just seven years in real estate, James and Katie Garrison have not only succeeded in the business, they have, in their own words, achieved more than they ever dreamed possible. For starters, this power couple that comprises the Garrison Group at Keller Williams became part owners of their local franchise in 2023. “This was our biggest professional accomplishment of the past year,” says James. Adds Katie, “Integrity, honesty and trustworthiness have driven our business higher than we could have ever dreamed. Ninety percent of our business now comes from past clients and referrals.” What’s more, the Garrisons became the top sellers in their office their first year in real estate and have maintained that position ever since.

It was in 2017 that the couple embarked on the journey that would redefine their careers. James brought a wealth of people skills and negotiation prowess to the table. Katie, with a background in sales and administration, seamlessly manages the behind-the-scenes intricacies of the business. “When we met, we knew we were both ready for new careers, and we jumped into it together,” explains James.

What sets the Garrisons apart is their intimate knowledge of the areas they serve. James grew up in New Buffalo, and Katie, a native of Schererville, has lived throughout the region. Their market spans northwest Indiana and southwest Michigan. The Garrison Group’s success is rooted in its client-centric philosophy. “Our clients consistently praise us for our local knowledge,” notes Katie. “We know everyone in the area who can help with anything needed. We are also great negotiators.”

Recently, the couple expanded their horizons by starting a rental portfolio and acquiring a large lakefront property. Their commitment to philanthropy is equally impressive, with involvement in causes like Special Olympics, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and Shriners for Children.
