Michael Kang and Brandon Banks

Spacematch Inc., Coldwell Banker Realty

Michael Kang, Founder

Brandon Banks, Co-Founder

As a budding foreman and construction specialist, Michael Kang entered real estate from a renovation background. After several projects on the GC side of things, he made the switch to the sales side and now speaks with the benefit of having a full range of experience. Banks’ project-management and analytical background as a real estate investor prompted him to teach others the power of real estate through brokering transactions.

Today, Kang and Banks lead Spacematch Inc., a team of 17 agents specializing in the Greater Chicagoland area. They say the majority of their business comes from repeat and referral clients, as well as luxury buyers and sellers looking to utilize Coldwell Banker’s exclusive buying and selling tools.

Both Kang and Banks grew up in Chicago — Banks on the West Side, attending Lane Tech and Lewis University. “I was able to develop an excellent sense of the western suburbs and Northwest Side of Chicago, which is where a lot of my business stems from today,” he says.

Kang, on the other hand, has lived and owned businesses in many different Chicago neighborhoods, but claims he truly learned the city while he worked as an Uber driver. Although the gig started as a way to make extra money, he ultimately met many riders who would later become his clients.

Spacematch Inc. has grown into one of the top three large teams regionally within Coldwell Banker, earning the International Diamond Society Team award in 2022. Both Kang and Banks are also members of the brokerage’s President’s Club. “Our sales volume and year-over-year growth demonstrate our consistency to our clients, which in turn gives us credibility,” Kang says. “Plus, with a team of 17 agents, it’s like a small task force behind our client’s process.”

Both Kang and Banks recently welcomed newborns into the world — Kang in February of 2023, and Banks in November of 2022.
