“I love what I do, and it shows,” says Baird & Warner broker Mary Onstad when asked how her upbeat attitude and positive approach helps her connect with clients. “My business style is fun and personable,” she continues. “I really get to know my clients as we work together closely on a buy or a sale, and that relationship goes beyond the sale.” Onstad shares that clients often stay in touch and invite her to their new homes for dinner parties or events.
A Grayslake native, Onstad has lived in the neighborhood for 25 years, raising her family and engaging in the community she loves. “I am always told I know everyone, and everyone knows me and my husband, but it is true. Being in the same town all our lives — everywhere we go, we know someone,” she says.
Onstad believes in putting clients first. “It is important for me to check in on my clients and make sure they are satisfied, even after we close,” she explains. “I’m usually described as personable, enthusiastic, compassionate, kind, caring [and] responsive.” In fact, Onstad’s dedication landed her in the Baird & Warner Director’s Club in 2021 and the Chairman’s Club in 2022. She was also a 2022 top 10 agent for sales in Grayslake.
Before her real estate career, Onstad owned a children’s music education business. She still enjoys singing, playing the guitar and performing. She also participates in improv-comedy events that donate all proceeds to a local nonprofit serving Lake County communities. “We have performed twice, and we are excited that this has become an annual charity event. Our friends, colleagues and clients come out to watch our show, and they donate money to this wonderful cause,” she shares.
