Both natives of Chicago, husband-and-wife duo Russell Burton and Meg Wood, brokers at COMPASS, have been helping first-timers carve their niche in the city over the last decade.

Originally in personal banking and management, Wood found her start in real estate from a lifelong drive to run her own business. “Real estate was the perfect blend of my skillset,” she says. “Working with people, being a self-starter and advising people all come naturally to me.” Always finding real estate to be an attractive business, Burton also left the banking world to join Wood four years ago and turn her work into a family business. “The biggest draw for us in real estate is that there is no ceiling,” he says. “You can grow and do as much as you’re willing to put into it!”

In an ever evolving industry, Burton and Wood are committed to adapting to every situation. That includes being experts in multiunit markets in addition to single-family homes. “Not only being able to adapt and react to the current market, but also to the needs of our clients has become a key part of our business.” says Burton.

With a combined 12 years of experience, Burton and Wood have taken on just about every challenge real estate could throw at them. It has given them the chance for tremendous growth in recent years, which, they say, is a result of the expert guidance they offer their clients. “We’re big on empowering our clients with as much knowledge as possible so they can feel confident in the process and in their decision making,” they remark.

The duo are members of the Chicago Association of Realtors (CAR), the Illinois Association of Realtors and the Lakeview East Chamber of Commerce. Burton and Wood both also have been recognized as top producers by CAR for six years in a row, as well as named among the organization’s top-producing teams in 2022.
