Kicking off his sales career in the banking sector, Chrys Athanasakos acknowledges that experience as a time of refining his interviewing skills. “I learned to listen and properly advise customers based on their needs, which is why my current clients trust me with their real estate transactions,” he explains. With a passion for design and architecture, along with an interest in the housing market, Athanasakos started working in the industry just prior to the financial crisis in 2007-08. “I knew if I could handle things during that period, I would be prepared for the upswing market,” he adds. “I haven’t looked back since.”
Currently a North Shore resident, Athanasakos is a broker with Jameson Sotheby’s International Realty specializing in marketing, valuation and negotiation covering the North Shore, from Evanston to Lake Forest, and Chicago, from Lakeview to Streeterville, including the West Loop. He credits his success to giving honest feedback and providing timely, detailed information to his clients during these rapidly changing markets. “I listen and tailor solutions to my clients’ needs,” he says. “I don’t sell; I like to make a connection and provide a service.” Known for his “no fluff-just straightforward” style, his clients trust him, often referring him to friends and family.
A good portion of Athanasakos’ clientele are people relocating into the Chicagoland area, including those moving for employment and also students and staff entering Northwestern University. “It is tough coming into the area and all that comes with it, so I help ease the process and offer solutions that work for each individual,” he points out. “My goal is to provide my clients with real estate insight and exceptional service.”
Athanasakos spends any free time with his wife and three children. He loves to travel and enjoys art, architecture, going jogging and watching cooking shows.
