Coming to America from Taipei alone at the age of 15 and living in Chicago for the past 20 years has taught Chih-Hao Yang to never give up. Yang, a Realtor, broker and managing broker with Fulton Grace, has used that drive and determination to sell upward of $30 million in real estate since he began selling properties in 2018. Before then, he held a marketing position in the industry.
Fluent in Chinese and English, his niche is helping buyers, sellers and investors who are new to the country.
“I use my experience as a first-generation immigrant to help others who are like me,” says Yang. “My clients find comfort in knowing that I went through everything they are going through, from renting an apartment to buying their first condo. During the transaction, we become friends because we all came from thousands of miles away and ended up in Chicago.”
Yang is a 2022 Chicago Association of Realtors’ top producer and recipient of Chicago Agent Magazine’s 2022 Agent’s Choice “Best Dressed” award.
A Certified Real Estate Negotiation Expert, he understands that negotiations center around strategically convincing the other party to do what you would like them to do. “Sometimes, I have to be nice, but other times, I’ve got to be aggressive in a professional way,” he says.
That expertise, coupled with the individual attention he provides each client, generates a steady stream of referrals.
“Working with buyers or sellers is like getting into a relationship,” says Yang, noting he calls, emails and texts clients almost daily, even on weekends, throughout their time together. “I usually get to learn about my clients during the process: where they’re from, what they studied and why they ended up in Chicago like me,” he says. “There are a lot of things that we can share and talk about to make the process more memorable.”
