Brian Behan, a broker for @properties Christie’s International Real Estate, lives and works in his beloved hometown of River Forest. Behan’s deep connection to River Forest and the surrounding neighborhoods give him an edge: He understands the area’s past and stays current with trends and changes. “I really study my market and make sure I know these homes inside and out,” he explains. “I try to walk every house that is for sale in town. Even if I don’t have the buyer for it, I know the nuances of each, and it helps me in building comps for listings or guiding a buyer on what is fair value.”

Behan decided to pursue a career in real estate because of his love for people and fascination with architecture, which he studied in college. Because he’s lived in several Chicago neighborhoods, including Lincoln Park, Old Town and the Fulton River District, Behan has a strong understanding of these unique markets. In 2011, he made the decision to raise his family in River Forest, where he grew up. He and his wife, two daughters and dog enjoy the culture and community the neighborhood offers.

Behan explains that he’s driven by relationships and results. He’s even had luck securing multiple off-market properties for buyers in a thin-inventory environment. Clients describe him as dialed into his market, authentic, high-energy, industrious, ethical and always available. “I’m known for being fun and easy, but also on top of my game,” he says. Outside of work, Behan donates to local charities like Sarah’s Inn and Opportunity Knocks, and he’s sponsored multiple youth sports teams. In his free time, he enjoys taking family road trips west to Montana and Colorado.
