Angelo Lurgio, Loan Originator

Wintrust Mortgage

While there are many loan officers who are great salespeople, Angelo Lurgio considers himself a professional who achieves great results in sales. Knowledgeable, resourceful, and an effective communicator, he has earned Presidents Circle awards each year of his career that spans more than three decades.

Lurgio’s ability to establish relationships and connect people is his superpower. “There is always somebody who needs something and someone, and I like to be able to provide both,” Lurgio explains. “My goal is to connect people to leverage the relationship.”

His level of expertise ranges from first-time homebuyers to more complex transactions including government loans and new construction. He reminds clients to get him involved in the process early, because knowing the size of loan they qualify for will give them a stronger position during negotiations. What’s more, he uses his product and guideline knowledge to get clients approved who were turned away by other lenders.

“Having a great conversation up front and understanding what matters most to them in their purchase or refinance is a critical foundation to build upon,” he says. Most of his clients are referrals resulting from the deep-seeded relationships he has created over the years.

“Navigating the current market not only takes grit but skill,” he says. “Understanding how to advocate for your client before a contract is written to get the best outcome for them is key. In addition to advocating for the client, I advocate for my partners in the transaction by leveraging the client’s strengths, our knowledge, and programs to get the best outcome for all parties.”

Lurgio began his business career working on the sales team of a fitness organization. It was there that he learned about an opportunity to join a mortgage company and knew his skills would be transferable.

On weekends, he loves playing poker with friends and driving his 1944 John Deere.
