As a native of New Buffalo, Tammy Grayson is deeply familiar with Southwest Michigan. Combine that connection to her hometown with her 15 years as a Chicago resident, and you find out that she’s an expert in two thriving real estate markets. She works diligently to assist her diverse clientele with finding the ideal property in both markets, whether it’s new construction in Chicago or a second home in Michigan.
Before becoming a Realtor, Grayson had experience working for a developer and being involved in new construction projects. But it’s her experience in the restaurant industry that she draws on more often. “In restaurants, you interact with so many different personalities, so you develop the ability to manage human dynamics really well,” she shares. “That skill has definitely served me well in real estate.”
Clients enjoy Grayson’s friendly, fun demeanor. But make no mistake — she’s all business when it comes to helping her clients make decisions about selling or buying their dream home. She’s known for her organizational skills, responsiveness and market expertise. “At the end of the day,” she notes, “you have to be an expert in your market to actually be of value to your clients.”
A strong work ethic is essential to succeed in real estate, and Grayson’s not afraid to put in the effort. “To grow to a high level in this business, you have to be committed all the time and work really hard,” she says. Moreover, she believes that when you enjoy your work, others can sense your enthusiasm. “I’m passionate about what I do and put 100 percent into it,” she says. “I actually love what I do and feel proud I get to help my clients.”
That attitude shines through in every aspect of her life. In her spare time, Grayson serves as first chair vice president of The Economy Shop, a nonprofit organization in Oak Park assisting the community. She enjoys fitness and loves spending time outdoors gardening or bird-watching. Renovating her property in Michigan and making it a dream home for herself and her children is a great source of pride for her.
