A career in advertising client services prepared Michael Gambatese, senior vice president of mortgage lending at Proper Rate, to take care of clients and always to be available. Now, with 20 years of working in the lending industry, he prides himself on his reliable availability, which allows his clients to know they can always reach him.

With a reputation built on having an efficient process and being professional but approachable, Gambatese invests in his client relationships by talking them through the loan process when they begin working together. “It is important for me that they understand how the process works and tailor a loan program that fits their specific needs,” he says. He likes to take a personal approach to his business and develop solid relationships with everyone he works with.

A deep knowledge of loan programs and available loan options sets Gambatese apart from the competition. He credits his team for his success and considers them essential. “My team and I work very hard to provide the best client experience,” he explains. “They are the backbone of my business.”

For the past 15 years, both the Scotsman Guide and Loan Officer Magazine have named Gambatese a top-producing loan originator. Five Star Professional has also nominated him for the past 15 years. This past year, he became a member of Proper Rate’s Chairman’s Circle, which is achievable with $100 million in annual production. Over the course of his career, he’s funded more than $1 billion in loans.

When Gambatese isn’t helping his clients secure funding, he loves to golf, exercise and travel with his family.
