Maureen Rush, Broker Associate

Sotheby’s International Realty

Like the rest of the industry, the pandemic made Maureen Rush reconsider how she conducted her real estate business. And these changes were a good thing. “Immediately, I began to implement my business virtually,” says Rush, real estate broker at Sotheby’s International Realty. “I conducted my listing appointments, buyer meetings, showings and open houses virtually. My business continued to grow, making last year one of the best years I’ve completed as a solo agent,” she says.

Some might call Rush’s career as something of a boomerang. Prior to real estate, she was both a nurse and a medical device representative. However, before her medical field experience she flipped houses. This experience is her secret weapon that affords her to go above and beyond for her clients. “My clients are always shocked at the services I offer. If a home could receive a higher return on investment I will recommend a kitchen or bathroom remodel,” she explains. “I streamline the process to help them make a larger profit in the long run. My preferred contractors provide estimates, which I review with my clients, and we create a budget. Then I will select the materials and manage the project from start to finish.”

Rush draws on her past medical experience to provide the highest levels of customer service. “I’m always honest, even if it’s not what my client wants to hear,” she shares. “My prior nursing career created a strong foundation of having a passion to help people, and my success as a medical device representative taught me that hard work and determination, mixed with consistency, is key. Implementing these traits into my real estate career has contributed to my success.”

Despite the challenges the real estate industry faced during the pandemic, Rush reached $6 million in sales during her first full year as a solo agent and has already surpassed that mark halfway through 2021.

A West Loop resident, Rush loves spending her free time with her five-year-old son and 10-year-old pomeranian. She is involved in PAWS and loves to travel, ski, hike, practice yoga and is an avid reader.
