Kirste Gaudet, Real Estate Broker

@properties

All real estate agents know that the minute they go on vacation, calls pour in from buyers and sellers anxious to work with them. “We joke, ‘If you have no business, take a vacation,’” says Kirste Gaudet, a real estate broker with @properties. That’s why she is grateful to be part of a loosely knit team that is always available to answer questions, troubleshoot, cover a showing or help out anytime she’s unavailable.

Gaudet’s mentor, Suzanne Gignilliat, taught her the importance of attention to detail, a skill that has resulted in her business becoming 95% referral-based. Gaudet specializes in the higher-end marketplace, assisting buyers, sellers and renters of single-family homes, condos and co-ops in the city and suburbs.

After 11 years in real estate, she has pieced together the best components for a professional presentation so as to understand clients and their top priorities. “I have worked hard over the years to learn pre-listing and pre-buyer presentations,” she says. “I have taken many classes, observed many top agents and have modified my presentations many times.”

Gaudet mastered selling after earning a degree in interior design and working as an account executive for Yves Saint Laurent and Oscar de la Renta. “I had to learn to go up to people I did not know and sell them my product,” she says. “This was great training for real estate.”

A competitive tennis player, wife and mother of three young adults, Gaudet helped her husband with his businesses while their children were young. As the kids became older, she chose 2009 to launch her real estate career, one of the hardest years to do so. “I felt if I could succeed in such tough times, I could make it work,” she says. “I had one sale that year at $3 million, and I was sold!”

At home, there is never a shortage of laughter. The family owns the ComedySportz theater in Lakeview.
