Working with all categories of buyers, the team at loanDepot is skilled at finding creative solutions to get the more unique loans across the finish line. Many of the team members were inspired by friends who were passionate about their jobs in the mortgage industry to follow the same career path. Each team member is approaching two decades or more of experience in loan origination and has, over time, developed their own carefully cultivated approach with clients.
David DeMars, a senior loan consultant and certified renovation loan and reverse mortgage specialist, takes a consultative approach by gathering all the necessary information upfront to help clients make an educated decision. “I truly enjoy the feeling you get when you’ve helped a first-time buyer achieve homeownership or a family who has saved for years buy that vacation home,” DeMars says. “Whether it’s a new purchase or helping someone reduce their monthly payment, it’s great knowing that I’ve helped them achieve their goals.”
For Michael Bless, a senior loan consultant and certified renovation loan specialist, it’s not just about getting a mortgage approved — it’s about developing a plan based on the client’s situation and goals. Bless determines what type of home his clients desire, how long they plan on living there and whether they need down payment assistance. “All of this information plays a key role in developing our plan,” Bless says.
Cindy Smolin, a senior loan consultant and co-founder of the North Shore Professional Women’s Network, takes a collaborative approach by first listening to what her clients say and then reacting to their specific needs. “No two buyers are alike, and it’s important to treat them as such,” she says. “No situation is too difficult. I always get creative to help my clients.”
Taking on the role of adviser, Steve Schneider, senior loan consultant, helps clients get beyond the basic questions and down to the details. “I believe it’s my job to go deeper with them and determine their short-term and long-term goals,” he says.
