Closing more than $1 billion in residential mortgages in her 15-year career, Christin Luckman has learned that every loan is unique. “A loan is a living, breathing organism and needs to be handled with care,” says Luckman, senior vice president at Guaranteed Rate. She works with a lot of first-time homebuyers who are new to the process, acting as their concierge and holding their hands from start to finish. “I always talk to every client personally to ensure that they are comfortable. Purchasing a home and getting a mortgage isn’t like buying a pair of shoes or a pack of gum.”
Luckman studied finance at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. “The best part about my classes was the real-time simulation of business transactions,” she says. She also enjoyed living with roommates and people from all different backgrounds, an experience that taught her how to communicate effectively in the real world.
Expert at keeping clients calm, Luckman is there to make the process easy. “There is no such thing as a one-size-fits-all approach,” she says. She implements technology in order to help her serve clients more effectively, but she does not use it in place of assisting them directly. “The computerized algorithms that some online lenders use cannot do what I can do as a human being. I show my clients that I am a real-life loan expert who cares about their needs and goals.”
A member of the Women’s Council of Realtors, Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce and Greater Naples Chamber of Commerce, Luckman has been ranked as a Top Originator in the Scotsman Guide multiple times and has been named a member of Guaranteed Rate’s President’s Club and Chairman’s Circle.
Still, Luckman manages to make time for activities outside of work, like playing tennis. She is also fond of food, wine and traveling with her boyfriend, whom she met through the mortgage and real estate industry. She also loves spending time with her puppy, who has become her “mascot and best little buddy” and can be followed on Instagram @mortgagepup. Luckman volunteers at Chicago Gateway Green, Gateway for Cancer Research, PAWS Chicago, Cypress Cove Conservancy and Sunshine Kids.
