As a competitive athlete in his youth, Ben Cohen learned what it means to persevere against difficult odds. Today, he brings that same sense of grit and determination to the mortgage industry.

Cohen has worked in the field for 14 years and is currently senior vice president of mortgage lending at Guaranteed Rate. He enjoys serving a variety of clients, from first-time buyers to those looking to refinance. Cohen has worked hard to become an expert in each mortgage product available to his clients, from jumbo loans to VA options and more.

By taking a consultative approach, Cohen holds himself accountable for his clients’ needs throughout every step of the lending process. He knows that for many clients, purchasing a home has been a lifelong dream. In turn, he knows how crucial his role is in making this dream come true.

“I know there’s no one-size-fits-all formula in the industry,” he says. “So I try to look at every mortgage with fresh eyes and give every client the best plan to meet their financial goals.”

Cohen has also built a variety of marketing campaigns and hosts various promotions and events across the country. For one of his local summertime promotions, people follow him on social media to find out where he will be giving away doughnuts from a famous Chicago doughnut shop every Friday morning. “Purchasing a home should be a fun experience, and it starts with working with a fun and inspiring team,” he says.

Throughout his career at Guaranteed Rate, Cohen has earned several accolades, including being ranked in the No. 5 spot on both National Mortgage News’ 2018 Top Producers list and Scotsman Guide’s 2018 Top Originators list. He was also voted Best Loan Officer in Illinois by the Illinois Mortgage Bankers Association in 2017.

In his free time, Cohen enjoys supporting the Jewish United Fund, the Guaranteed Rate Foundation, Humble Design and many other local charities. He also loves spending time with his wife and three sons.
