Juliana Yeager, Realtor, @properties, Chicago/Lakeview

What was your first job in the realty industry? I jumped right in as a licensed Realtor.

Who inspires you? My family.

What is your favorite free-time activity? Spending quality time away from work with my husband and real estate partner, Benjamin, our son, Holden, and our Yorkie-Poo, Leo.

How did you learn the business? Although a lot of it has been through experience, my former managing broker, Mark Zipperer, has really been a mentor to me. I had only been in the business for six months when I came to RE/MAX Edge, so a lot was very new to me. He was always there to answer all my tough questions and help me through any difficult situation. I have grown my career over the last several years and recently joined @properties to help me get to the next level.  My new firm and I both share in the same mindset in regards to technology, education and to never stop developing yourself.

What was your most difficult sale, and how did you succeed? My most difficult sale was with two close friends of mine. I would need a lot more space than this page, but in a nutshell they always had differing opinions, differing ideas of where to live and neither wanted to compromise. All-in-all, it took about two years and although they finally decided on a location 45 miles away, they are in the home of their dreams and incredibly happy. All that time, patience and logged car mileage has already paid off with a few referrals!

What is the most difficult aspect of your job? Managing time off, as it is so easy to work 24 hours a day in this business.

What was your worst job, and what did you learn from it? My first job out of college was selling individual health insurance plans to agents. I learned that I could sell anything, but I really didn’t like being behind the desk.

Where do you go to network and meet new clients? Ninety percent of my business comes from referrals, but whenever I am out and about I talk to everyone and I’ve come to find that everyone wants to talk about real estate. Whether I’m out shopping or on a bar stool, you never know who might be looking to buy or sell.

What was the last good movie you saw or book you read? The Notebook and “Never Eat Alone” by Keith Ferrazzi and “The Help”

What is your favorite restaurant? Fiorentino’s Cucina Italiana in Chicago. The rotolo is the best!

Architecturally speaking, what is your favorite building in Chicago? Tribune Tower is stunning.

What kind of car do you drive? Audi Q7.

Smartphone or paper? Smartphone.

What is your favorite city after Chicago? Rome, Italy.

What is your personal motto? Stick to the Golden Rule and stay positive.

In 10 words or less, what is your advice for someone new to the industry? Self-motivation + work hard + positive thinking + patience = results.
