For the Newman family, real estate is a career and a family affair. Launched by Scott Newman on Jan. 1, 2009, today the brokerage has 15 agents, two inside support staff members, and a field team. “Our knowledge of the Chicagoland communities we serve is second to none, and we’re extremely proud of that,” Scott says. He says his family’s entrepreneurial spirit propelled their success and that of their agents. Hard work has earned Newman Realty platinum status within the Chicago Association of Realtors and perennial recognition as one of the organization’s top producers.
Scott began with another brokerage when he first graduated college in 2004, focusing on the northwest suburbs and learning from a top agent specializing in real estate owned properties (REO). While he initially planned to enter the financial services industry, receiving the book “Rich Dad, Poor Dad” by Robert Kiyosaki as a gift changed everything. “I read it cover to cover the night I received it and it inspired a passion I’d always had for real estate,” he recalls. Scott earned his license soon after, building his business through the country’s economic downturn. Connections and experience in the short sale and foreclosure industry helped him flourish when the industry took a hit during the recession.
Scott’s sister Michelle and his father Allan joined the brokerage to provide additional guidance and counsel for clients. “We like to think of what we offer as the perfect mix of old-fashioned customer service and modern amenities, such as our utilization of the latest technology, that creates the best possible experience for people,” Allan explains. “We always tell people to place every single concern they have on our shoulders and we’ll be the ones to carry the heavy load so they don’t have to.” Scott has followed in his father’s footsteps of creating his own business and exhibits the same strong work ethic, passion for helping people, and dedication to getting the job done.
Newman Realty is aggressively pursuing two new market sectors. While an estimated 80 percent of their clients are Chicago based, Michelle
says the firm has recently expanded its reach and volume in the suburbs significantly. “We’re actually looking for space for an additional office in the North Shore area,” Michelle says.
In addition to their retail brokerage activities, Newman Realty continues to expand their market share in the investment and banking sectors through the formal creation of a new division of Newman Realty, which is working with institution-level investors and corporate clients to service their unique needs in multiple states through strategic partnerships. “Passion and knowledge can take our firm as far as we want to go in this industry, and we hope that inspires other entrepreneurs out there to carve out their own path to success,” she explains.
Scott, Allan and Michelle each hold membership in the National,
Illinois and Chicago Associations of Realtors. Scott also serves on the board of the PAWS animal shelter. Allan remains active with his fraternal association, and Michelle volunteers with Make-a-Wish. Their off hours are primarily spent together. “We truly cherish every moment we can spend together,” Scott says. “Our goal is to help our clients fulfill their real estate goals and needs effectively and efficiently so they can spend as much time as possible with their own families, friends, and lives as our family has been fortunate enough to do.”
