Elizabeth Amidon is a Chicago Association of Realtors Top Producer and a Five Star Professional. She also ranks among the top 10 in sales volume at Dream Town, yet she seems to take as much — if not more — pride in her own personal growth and development. Pointing to the fact that she’s improved her total sales volume every year she’s been in the business, she tells us that one of the things she loves most about this business is the opportunity to learn, grow, and build social connections. “Every transaction brings a new experience and a new challenge. I learn something new with every single deal,” she says. “I am never bored with this work.”
Before coming to Chicago, Amidon was licensed in Montana and Colorado, crediting her time in the West for providing her with valuable experience with different types of land and subdivisions, which still comes in handy here
in the Midwest. She also has sales experience, which she says has been instrumental in her ability to forge relationships with her clients. “I love one- on-one interaction with people because I really get a chance to get to know people this way, and I get to help them make the best decisions possible,” she says. For Amidon, relationship building and the social aspects of real estate are what keep her going. “I absolutely love this part of my job.”
Amidon also cherishes the opportunity real estate offers to continue to improve oneself in order to help others. “I work as hard as I can and want to be the best I can be, and more than anything, I want to make people happy.” With this philosophy of self-improvement, Amidon embraces the fact that sometimes this industry is going to knock you down. “Resilience is one of my favorite words. In this business there will be success and failure every day,” she says. “It’s all about how quickly you can get back up on your feet and get the next deal or make the next best decision.”
In her time in Chicago, Amidon has also fallen in love with the city, and has leveraged that love for her clients’ benefit. “I know the city in detail – I have learned so much since I have been here in Chicago selling real estate,” she says. “There are agents that have been in the business twice or three times as long as me sometimes who ask me for advice because they know I show properties everywhere.” Having recently bought a bike from the beloved Lakeview bicycle store-coffee shop hybrid Heritage Bicycles, Amidon has kicked up her city exploration to another level, saying “I love adventure. I love to find new places and restaurants in the city.”
