“Extremely knowledgeable,” “exceptional,” and “amazing” are just a few ways clients describe Cathy Walsh and her real estate expertise. An 18-year industry veteran, her certifications from the American Society of Interior of Designers and National Council for Interior Design Qualification illustrate her ability to prepare homes for the market and help buyers envision themselves in a home. “The key to my success is being an active listener who earnestly advocates for my clients,” Walsh says. “Real estate has evolved into a much more complex industry over the past two decades, but my experience and seasoned approach to working with clients allow me to expertly navigate any unexpected challenge.”

Walsh’s personal experience building her second custom home helped her realize she has what it takes to market and sell her own house. “I enrolled in a real estate class and never looked back,” she laughs. While Walsh serves all types of buyers and sellers, first-time and young buyers comprise the majority of her referral-based roster. “They require a bit more TLC, but it’s incredibly satisfying to see the expression on their face when they find a home they love,” she explains.

Walsh is an admirer of architecture and has always been interested in the construction process. She has volunteered with the Chicago Architecture Foundation as a walking group tour leader for 10 years. She is always on top of trends in both city neighborhoods – where homes may sell quickly – and the suburbs – where luxury homes may take longer to move. “I have my finger on the pulse of each market and know what it takes to make things happen in them, so I’m an expert negotiator,” she says. Walsh’s integrity and commitment to her work shine through her one-on-one, personal communication with clients. She worked through a recent vacation to Scotland to close the sale of a luxury listing. “I spent hours on the phone, negotiating for my client while an ocean away, but I came home celebrating a great trip and a successful sale,” she recalls.

A member of the National and Illinois Association of Realtors, the Institute for Luxury Home Marketing and Proxio Pro, Walsh credits her parents, who have lived in more than 30 homes, for her love of home construction, design and remodeling. She is equally grateful to her husband and children for supporting her professional aspirations. Walsh plans to one day pen a novel whose protagonist is influential in Chicago and the architecture world, but her writing is on hold for the moment. “The Chicagoland real estate market is on the uptick, which means duty calls, so you’ll have to stay tuned for that great American novel!”
