Sam Powell and Christina M. Pinson are the quintessential trailblazers. With nearly 20 years of collective experience, Powell and Pinson aspire to not only strengthen the industry through their contribution to it, but to also establish a network of peers who, like them, are genuinely committed to inclusion and equality. Dream Town Realty’s new LGBT division, the first of its kind in the U.S., makes this possible.

Powell, a Delaware native, relocated to The Windy City after graduating from the Rochester Institute of Technology with a focus on documentary photograph and historical image restoration. Her studies correspond more closely with her Realtor career than one might think, particularly given that they prepared her to appreciate Chicago’s stunning buildings and unique architecture. She currently resides in the West Loop, a neighborhood that serves as the perfect base for exploring the city’s offerings. Her extensive knowledge of Chicago allows her to better serve clients, as does her staunch belief in complete transparency. “None of my social media accounts are private, and no questions are off-limits,” she says, further exhibiting the kind of honesty and candor that buyers and sellers have to come to appreciate when collaborating with her.

Pinson, who recently joined the Ask Sam Team, recalls visiting open houses with her mother on Sunday afternoons, an experience that fostered her passion for the industry and honed her eye for detail. A south-side native, she specializes in helping buyers purchase the ideal home for their needs. “I look at properties as if I were purchasing them for my family and myself,” she explains when describing her approach. Not only does Pinson focus on her clients’ needs and wants before the house hunting begins, but she also carefully observes them when they visit properties so that she can further fine-tune the selection she presents to them. In addition, she helps reassure them of their purchase decision by bringing a top-notch team of inspectors to examine the home to avoid unnecessary pitfalls.

Both Powell and Pinson actively engage with the Women’s Council of Realtors’ Chicago Chapter. Powell currently serves as its President, served as President in 2014 and will soon be installed as the 2016 Women’s Council of Realtors’ Illinois State Chapter President and a National Speaker for the Women’s Council of Realtors and the National Association of Realtors. The two are also work with other organizations including the Chicago Area Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce and the Chicago Association of Realtors.

In addition, the pair are sports enthusiasts and participate with Chicago Force, a women’s semi-professional tackle football team. The team won their National Championship in 2013, and Powell has been the team’s Game Day Operations Manager since 2010. The duo also sponsor a team in The Chicago Metropolitan Sports Association, of which Pinson is a member.
