With more than 20 years of experience, Gail Spreen specializes in the city’s Streeterville and downtown area, which is typically identified as the Magnificent Mile and all the land east of it. “I’d like people to think of me when they think about Streeterville real estate so that I’m recognized as the voice of Streeterville,” explains this industry veteran.
Spreen grew up in a small Wisconsin town that fostered a sense of community and camaraderie. “I work to create that same community, that same neighborhood feeling in downtown Chicago,” she says, “and it’s possible to achieve!”
With a Masters of Business Administration from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management, Spreen is particularly knowledgeable of real estate practices, marketing and entrepreneurship, all of which she leverages as the president and owner of Streeterville Properties. Her expertise in luxury high-rise condominiums goes beyond simply helping clients buy and sell them. Rather, Spreen also possesses extensive experience in appraisal and development, the latter of which has involved both building conversions and new construction projects. In fact, she serves as president of the Streeterville Organization of Active Residents (SOAR), through which she has helped review development proposals in collaboration with the 42nd and 2nd Ward Aldermen’s offices and city departments.
Spreen finds her unwavering commitment to the neighborhood she calls home highly rewarding. “I’m inspired daily when I see how Streeterville is changing dramatically, and my goal is to positively contribute to that change to ensure it’s a world-class neighborhood,” she explains. Her passion equally benefits the clients she serves because she can share her first-hand community experience with them. “I provide my clients information about market values and the neighborhood and then work to assist them to make the best decision they can,” says Spreen. “This is something that they may not be able to get from other Realtors who aren’t Streeterville specialists.” For example, clients rely on her expertise when trying to determine the impact of new development construction on their property value, and she skillfully assists them by providing price point and demographic data.
The recipient of multiple awards from the Chicago Association of Realtors as well as being a member of its Board and chair of its public policy committee, Spreen was recognized by the Streeterville Chamber of Commerce last year for her tireless efforts on behalf of the community’s well-being. This is because, she makes clear, “I live, work and volunteer in Streeterville as I’ve watched this neighborhood grow and prosper over the last two decades. My goal is to continuously improve the quality of life for my fellow residents and create a community atmosphere where everyone knows and supports each other.”
